Put off buying these for ages but not sure why. Would like the tongue to be a few mm shorter but they’re great. Smart, stylish & comfy

Overall I really like this shoe. It is a great looking shoe, well made and fits well. But - what the heck is the tongue made out of? It is so rigid and too - I don’t know. Can it be cut or something without completely messing up the shoe? Because I really like otherwise.
